Our inspiration: we were inspired the opening title sequence of se7en.
what se7en is about:is a 1995 American psychological thriller film that blends elements of the crime and horror genres.
what we liked about se7en: we liked the idea that it focused on each individual detail of the killer and his ideas.

What makes an opening title sequence effective?
Movie title sequences can often be the most important part of a film. setting the tone, atmosphere and characters for the audience, the opening credits can either make or break an opening title sequence.
I think the following things make an opening title sequence effective:
-use of high angles to emphasise vulnerability and low angles to emphasise power and dominance.
-use music and sound effects to create emotions among the audience.
-use certain colours that denote specific feelings and emotions.
-at the point of victims demise, cut the lights to reduce the vision of the victim and the viewer.
- use silence effectively to increase suspense and play on the audiences expectation, as when its quite they automatically start to listen for sounds.

The opening sequence for se7en did very important non-narrative things: in the original script, there was a title sequence with Morgan Freeman buying a house out in the middle nowhere and then traveling back on a train. Directed in 1995, David Fincher's se7en is a film that defies modern categorisation. The film doesn't open directly with the sequence. It first introduces us to retiring detective somerset (Morgan Freeman) and rookie replacement detective Mills (Brad Pitt) as they also meet for the first time, establishing their combative on screen chemistry and investing the audience in the evolution of their partnership. c.s |

The film was created in 2007 by director James Wan.
The genre of the horror is created through the use of a black background, this generally signifies doom and death, which are key points in a horror film. The use of the colour red (candle, writing) could represent blood which constructs an idea of death which would surely creep fear into the viewer. The use of the extreme close up of the eye could create and eerie atmosphere and perhaps make the viewer feel uncomfortable. As the jump cut to this shot was sudden it makes the viewer shocked and feel scared which is what horror film is aiming to achieve. Narrative enigma is created through the lack of information given in the opening sequence. The first clip gives information about ventriloquists which explains the following scenes where we see the dolls and the images of the skeletal design. But as the film is a horror, the audience are still unsure as to why the dolls are scary. c.s |
