Sound is used in the opening sequence of films and tv programmes to make the audience feel the emotion that is close to how the rest of the movie or film will make them feel. For example if it's a horror film, the opening sequence will have sounds or music that will make the audience feel scared or fearful of what's to come.

American Horror Story's opening title sequence uses a soundtrack that links with the entire sequence. For example in this sequence, a shot of a baby picture is shown but the sound cuts to a more loud and shrouded sound to maybe confuse the viewer. The sound also accompanies the titles well as the music picks up in sound almost every time a name is shown. This has helped our group notice that for our title sequence to work, our music must intertwine with our shots and titles.

Dead Silence's opening title sequence uses such a high pitch soundtrack which, as the sequence goes on, picks up in pace. This is important to the entire sequence as it helps the audience feel chills and also rather scared and intrigued on why the music is like that. It also has a more of a paediatric feel t it and so the audience may feel like the whole film may be about a child or maybe children.
